Sebile Magic Swimmer 125S-SK

Weight-3/4oz
Length-5”
Depth-Wake to 2 ½

Similar products-Strike King sexy swimmer

Strengths-Durability, Color selection, Price, Balance, Availability, unique profile
Weakness-No soft tail but it does make burning it easier, not alot of depth options

Modifications-Hooks are fine, I do like to add a feather treble to the back hook.

One of the first hard swimbaits I used was the magic swimmer. I also had my first good swimbait day on it on Guntersville burning it in shallow flats. There are several sizes of this bait and sink rates but this review is for the 5 inch slow sink version which is the most popular. The first thing that you notice about this bait is the finish it doesnt match the top swimbaits out there but for the price and a mass produced bait you cant beat it. I think Sebile paint jobs top Lucky Craft as the top finishes out there for big companies. My favorite is the Halo greenie which is a great emerald shiner and herring imitation. But there are plenty of great colors to use. Another thing you will notice right off is the quality its as durable a bait as I have found and I have had no problems with the hardware on this bait.

As far as national success the Magic Swimmer has produced some major wins on lakes with Blueback Herring in them including a BASS win. But dont just consider this bait a herring imitation it also contributed to a win on Amistad. Two things to remember-A. Almost every lake has some type of long thin bait fish usually a shiner of some sort B. Bass dont care when looking up at a bait it looks like food. The most popular way to fish these baits is burn them but you can fish them anyway you want.

My best success has come from burning these baits over grass in 2-6 ft of water. I have had these outproduce typical baits like spinnerbaits and crankbaits in clear water. The best trick I learned is to stop the bait every 5-6 rotations of the reel or when at a key spot (grass edge, cover) I found by doing this I got less follows and more hits. When burned and stopped the bait darts and does great things. While jeking would be a normal strategy when working this bait fast a simple stop does fine and you get far less line tangles. The bait also catches fish worked slow and you can give it some more action if you want at slower speeds.

Conclusion-This bait is not a must have for the true trophy hunter unless you lake has a big herring or shiner forage base. But its designed to catch fish and catch fish it does. I like other baits more at slow retrieves but if I gotta burn a bait over grass this is the bait I pick.

Score-9 out of 10
